Three Fourteen employs a threefold ‘coursework, church, cohort’ process to train leaders. To ensure the formation of healthy, holistic leaders, we require rigorous theological coursework lived out on the field of ministry and refined through learning communities (cohorts). Just as every resident of our institute will pursue academic studies and ministry throughout our process, they will also participate in a weekly rhythm of cohort engagement.
Our cohorts are places where you will critically reflect on lessons from coursework and church ministry in an intimate relationship with mentors and a few other residents. We design the overall cohort experience to intentionally augment your academic and field training components. In part, this comes through interactive input from seasoned ministry leaders, yet we also arrange additional learning exercises and assessments so that you have a deeper awareness of yourself as a maturing leader before God and others.
When you participate in our program, you are more than just a student — you are a ‘ministry resident’. We are not simply preparing you for future ministry, we are calling you into a season of active ministry.
During our two-year residency program, you will take theological courses and pay heavily-discounted tuition leading to a Master’s degree. But as a full-time resident of Three Fourteen you will also be placed into a ministry position with one of our partnering churches. Further, every resident will receive a full scholarship for the leadership development opportunities provided in our residency cohorts.

The Journey | St.Louis
Three Fourteen has an intimate partnership with The Journey, a network of churches centered in the city of Saint Louis and stretching as far as southern Illinois. The Journey was first established in 2003 to be a church “in the city, for the city” — a church to help address the need for restoration and the spread of the gospel within St. Louis’ many under-resourced and forgotten neighborhoods. Several Journey churches are located within these radically different cultural hubs across the metro area.
The Journey has not only established churches, but has incubated and partnered with ministries and organizations to renew St. Louis. Mission: St. Louis, Karis House, Midrash STL, The Covering House, Rebirth: East St. Louis, Faith That Works, Campus Outreach, Urban K-Life are all meeting specific needs in the city.
The Journey’s multiple locations, leadership resources and partner organizations provide a rich training environment for Three Fourteen residents. Each resident will be placed on the front lines of gospel ministry, receiving diverse opportunities and practical coaching along the way.
